一无所有BBS的前身是净月坛，而净月坛是长春理工大学的官方BBS。净月坛多次面临内部管理上和一些外部力量的很大压力，曾多次被要求局部版面整顿甚至关闭，并最终于2003年3月3日正式关闭。净月坛得名于长春著名景点：净月潭。
净月坛关闭后，原净月坛站务在因特网上建立了《净月坛》流浪版。2003年9月1日，原净月坛管理团队在广大站友的支持下启用了新的站名一无所有和新的域名YWSY.net。一无所有得名于一个现状：净月坛正式关闭后，没有服务器（以前使用的学校的服务器），没有域名（以前使用的学校的二级域名bbs.cust.edu.cn），没有接入线路（以前使用的学校的教育网线路），没有运维资金（以前由学校提供少量宣传费用）……什么都没有，即所谓一无所有。
2009年12月起，中国外宣办、“扫黄打非”办、工业和信息化部、公安部、新闻出版总署等九部门在中国开展整治互联网和手机媒体涉及版权违规的影音视频，淫秽色情及低俗信息网站的专项行动。2009年12月3日，一无所有BBS因含有违规信息，且管理上无法达到国家规定，被要求关闭。

- 2003年9月1日：正式成立。
- 2004年6月－2004年10月：服务器资源问题临时采用动网系统。
- 2004年10月至今：恢复使用PHP+MySQL的Discuz!系统。
- 2009年12月3日：因网站含有违规信息，被要求关闭。
