Articles copied from Draft Namespace on Wikipedia could be seen on the Draft Namespace of Wikipedia and not main one.），本名保山，一名遷昇，字韻卿，號芝軒、又號寶身，小名羊三兒，清代直隸省天津人，著名的京劇演員，因戲約頻繁，時常一日連趕三場，故人稱「劉趕三」，因其大膽直言，聞名帝都。
慈禧太后喜愛趕三，趕三時常奉敕入宮禁唱戲，一日演《十八扯》，見光緒帝侍立慈禧太后之側，就假借戲中扮演皇帝的孔懷之口說道：「我當個皇帝也不過圖個寶座即位，真皇帝反倒是立在一旁，沒得坐了也。」太后驚覺光緒帝竟然無位可坐，立即賜其坐著看戲。

趕三一次在宮中演《思志誠》，飾演妓院老鴇，正在召喚妓女。趕三眼見五王爺奕誴、六王爺奕訢、七王爺奕譞三位王爺遲到，正在臺下走，就大呼「老五、老六、老七，快出來見客啊，走快些！」（古時妓女多以排行相稱）慈禧太后與全場不分位階的所有觀眾，哄堂大笑，連臺上的戲子都捧腹不已，三位親王被此一「幽默」舉措，羞得無地自容。
趕三在外亦時常譏諷時事，一次受邀演《南廟請醫》，扮演醫生劉高手，竟然說：「東華門我是不去的。因為那門裏頭有個闊哥兒，新近害了病找我去治；他害的是梅毒，我還當是天花呢，一劑藥下去就死啦！」分明是諷刺民間傳說同治帝因微服嫖妓，患梅毒而死，而太后對外說病因是天花，以掩蓋真相。底下觀眾一聽到此大不敬之臺詞，立刻嚇得掩耳四散。
