1968年2月：蒙林務局撥贈埔里鎮大城里苗圃土地二公頃。
1968年4月：破土興工。
1968年7月：教育廳指派薛向朠先生擔任校長。
1968年8月：正式成立並分發九所國小畢業生七百五十一人到本校報到。
1968年9月9日：舉行開學典禮，正式上課
1999年9月21日:因921地震遭受嚴重震災，校舍損毀慘烈
