二水國小的前身是「二八水公學校」，創立於1902年7月1日，是二水有史以來由政府設立的第一所公學校，當時教育內容以日文爲主，漢文爲副，設校之初，就學率偏低，大概只有10%。1921年，二八水公學校易名為「二水公學校」；1941年，易名為「二水東國民學校」；1945年二戰結束，易名為「二水第一國民學校」；1968年，易名為「二水國民小學」至今。[2][3][4]

學校特色[编辑]
推行身教式持續安靜閱讀[8]。為了讓二水的孩子們能從小培養閱讀習慣，2014年2月上任的巫俊延校長，在與學校老師們共同討論後，決定改善學校的閱讀環境、充實收藏書籍。依靠校友、家長們的捐助，整修新的圖書室，並且對外募書。2014年10月開始，全校投入閱讀運動。早上8:00~8:35，規劃為寧靜閱讀時間，全校老師、學生、學校工友等，每一個人都要放下手邊的工作，一起在校園裡閱讀，營造閱讀的氛圍。[9]
特殊文化資產[编辑]
淺井初子先生紀念碑：1910年8月15日，學校舉辦遠足會，全校師生至鼻仔頭水門、林先生廟參觀。近午時分，學生在河邊嬉水，一位學生不慎墜落八堡圳，淺井先生為拯救學生，躍進河中，因水流湍急又不諳水性，釀成師生同時溺斃的慘劇。事後，為表彰淺井先生救人的事蹟，尋常小學校乃在校門入口右側建立「淺井初子先生紀念碑」。[10][11]
