沿革[编辑]
1968年6月，新竹縣立新湖國民中學奉准成立，由新竹縣立湖口初級中學（今新竹縣立湖口國民中學）校長王玉書負責籌備，校址設於新竹縣湖口鄉信勢村新湖路200號，校地面積約9,000餘坪。[1]臺灣省政府於1968年7月2日核定由梁基盛擔任新湖國中首位校長。[2]中華民國教育部於同月底，遴選該校辦理為期三年的教學實驗研究，以語文及社會學科為實驗重點。[3]
9月9日，全省統一舉行開學典禮，正式上課，招收新生6個班、332名學生。[1]1982年，獲臺灣省政府教育廳為重點發展單項運動學校，項目為手球，由教育部補助學生營養、指導教師津貼，省教育廳補助器材設備經費。[4]
