生平[编辑]
1931年11月6日在費城出生，家中有三個男孩，而李達三是家中孩子年齡最年幼的。童年時正逢經濟大蕭條，父親因失業而發瘋，離家出走到加州。家裡僅餘母親靠著在巴爾的摩（Baltimore）的工作撫養三個兒子。
在哲學研究所畢業以後，就在從1956-1958兩年間，到台灣新竹的語言學院來學習中文及國語，在他剛學好中文以後，耶穌會要求他回美國去讀英美文學的博士學位。
到美國紐約修讀佛德翰姆大學（Fordham University）的英美文學的博士學位。
2022年5月24日，李達三在匹茲堡辭世。
