- 1988年2月17日 - 京都縱貫自動車道沓掛IC至龜岡IC開通，此交流道也同時啟用。
- 2010年6月28日 - 高速公路開始試行免收費，在免收費的期間，沓掛IC常有壅塞情形發生[1]。
- 2011年10月31日 - 由於建設京都第二外環狀道路，入口匝道向南移。[2]
- 2012年2月6日 - 由於建設京都第二外環狀道路，出口匝道向南移[3]。
- 2013年4月21日 - 京都縱貫自動車道沓掛IC至大山崎IC/JCT開通[4]。
