1987年7月至2004年7月，长期在中国海洋石油总公司工作，曾任办公厅副主任、主任等职。
在此期间，1996年8月至1998年7月，曾在中国社会科学院研究生院企业管理研究生课程班学习；2001年11月至2003年10月，曾挂职担任四川省泸州市委常委、副市长一职。
海南省[编辑]
2004年7月至2007年5月，任海南省人民政府副秘书长、研究室主任。
2007年5月至2013年1月，历任海南省农垦总局局长、党委副书记、书记等职。
山西省[编辑]
2013年1月5日至2022年1月15日，担任山西省人民政府副省长[1][2]。2017年1月至2018年2月期间，兼任山西省国资委党委书记一职。
黑龙江[编辑]
2021年12月，调任黑龙江省人民政府副省长[3]。2022年3月，升任中共黑龙江省委常委[4]。2023年1月，出任黑龙江省人民政府常务副省长、党组副书记[5][6]。
落马[编辑]
2023年12月8日，王一新因涉嫌严重违纪违法，接受中央纪委国家监委纪律审查和监察调查[7]。2024年6月17日，被中央纪委国家监委开除党籍、开除公职[8]
