整個路段距離極長，必須具有長途徒步登山經驗。全程零補給，零退路。期間需要不斷爆林，部份位置需要攀爬，大多為浮沙碎石路。尤其於跌死狗下山一段、黃竹角墩臺遺址下山到鬼手一段尤其崎嶇。路線對於體能、耐力、意志力及技術要求極高。
注意：鬼手岩經歷長年海浪侵蝕，風化嚴重極為脆弱，請保護地質遺跡。切勿攀爬，免生危險。
