莫霍克人是曾经的五族联盟中领地最大与最强大的一族，控制着易洛魁联盟东部边境的大片土地。大部分莫霍克语使用者直到 18 世纪末定居在现今纽约州北部的北部乡村和阿迪朗达克山地区。
