中臺灣傳說中，蝨母仙為清朝人，本名范金郎，廣東潮州府大埔縣人[2]。台中石岡劉元龍公派下第三代的啟成公劉文進得到其之助，葬女性先人至「美人照鏡」風水寶地，使石岡劉家就此興旺[3][2]。劉文進去世時，也得到蝨母仙指點，葬於東勢的「雄牛鬥崁」，風水說其墓碑會隨著時間傾斜而讓家族運越旺，墓的對面還有一面山每年崩落土石，代表雄牛越傾斜越有力[4]。該墓碑目前已向前傾倒四十五度，如牛對撞的牛角，後代族親也不敢動其碑，並以客家傳統習俗舉行「雄牛鬥崁」祭祖已三百餘年，成為該地特色[5]。
