BIG AL的原创插画作者无从得知，但修订是由艺术家Ash完成的。根据Power FX的说法，Big Al比起机器人更像半机械人。 BIG AL的原始图像来自一个古老的科学怪人的图片，图像上的手来自山姆大叔的一张老海报。
台湾的设计中，Big Al的镰刀变成了类似于音符的东西。
