以地瓜蒸熟後壓成泥，加上木薯粉（太白粉亦可，木薯粉較Q，太白粉則較軟。）及水拌勻成糰，搓揉成長條形再切成小塊，放入沸水中煮至浮起撈出即成。 脚本错误：没有“Gallery”这个模块。

可和在冰糖水裡食用，也可熱食。在台灣，許多甜點如豆花、刨冰，均可加點地瓜圓、芋圓以及綠豆圓覆蓋其上一起食用。
