歷史[编辑]
江西地區在秦朝以前鮮少受到中原文明的影響，該地區屬於百越族居住地區。秦滅六國之戰後，才被納入中原漢文化的地區。在明朝初期，江右民系大規模移居到湖南和湖北的北部和東部地區。促使新湘語形成。在明末清初時，江右民系又再次遷居到湖廣（今湖南與湖北兩省範圍）。

江西的主要語言是贛語，佔江西全省大部分地區。江西省南部使用客家語，北部有江淮官話（淮語）、徽語和吳語。
