2024年秋季学期新修订的版本降低了课文和识字难度，同时更注重幼小衔接，延长拼音学习时间。整体来说教材难度降低。[2]

此书按照单元编排内容，每个单元的学习内容各有侧重。
开篇[编辑]
共“我上学了”、“我是中国人”、“我是小学生”、“我爱学语文”4个主题，参与、体验、学习相结合，引导学生顺利进行角色转换和身份认同，培养语文学习的兴趣和学习习惯。
识字单元[编辑]
共2个识字单元，通过汉字文化激发识字兴趣，同时培养识字能力、学习书写规律，由易到难，降低学习难度。
汉语拼音单元[编辑]
学习最简单的常用汉字后，系统学习拼音，由熟悉的语言带出拼音的学习，使拼音与识字相辅相成。
课文单元[编辑]
课文共14篇。难度适宜，内容富有童趣，贴近儿童。课后练习有朗读背诵、理解内容、积累词语、运用词句、拓展实践等活动。[4]

学会识读、书写汉语拼音，能借助汉语拼音识字、学习普通话。
识写汉字[编辑]
培养学习汉字的习惯，认识300个常用汉字（会写其中100个），掌握汉字的基本笔画、常用偏旁部首、笔顺。养成良好的写字习惯，能将字正确、端正地写出。同时学习借助汉语拼音独立识字。
阅读[编辑]
感受阅读的兴趣，学习用普通话朗读课文，在阅读的过程中积累词语。认识常用标点符号、自然段，诵读儿歌和浅近的古诗积累知识。能使用想象感受语言的优美和情感。与他人交流读物中感兴趣的内容，并主动课外阅读。
口语交际[编辑]
学说普通话，养成说普通话的习惯。能认真听别人讲话，与别人交谈，积极参加讨论，敢于发表自己的意见。态度自然大方。[4]
