2022年，野火娛樂總經理詹仁雄有感於台灣偶像界長期缺乏新血，發起選秀節目《原子少年》[2]。節目在海選之後，由音樂製作人及舞蹈老師將參賽者分成八組，分別由八大行星命名[3]，並預定選出兩組出道[4]。節目的六輪比賽中，「金星」一組在第四輪及第五輪獲得第一名[5][6]，然而在最終決賽以第三名收場，未能取得唱片公司合約[7]。儘管如此，網路紅人「到處都是瘋女人」成員「Apple」與經紀公司仍為金星舉辦為期40天的出道募資計畫[8]。民眾募資出道計畫在兩天內募資近三百萬[9]，最終於2022年10月11日募資超過700萬，以121%達成率確定出道[10]。依據募資計畫將發行兩首MV、兩首新歌加MV，2023年將發行實體專輯及舉辦1-2場金星專場演唱會或新歌簽唱會[11]。
2022年12月26日發片記者會宣布「金星VENUS」未來將以多種分隊形式發展，分隊「VERA」包含Nelson、藍弟、廖學文、蔡朕、許孟維、巴比共六位成員正式出道。
在表演風格上，「金星」是少數主打中性特質的男團，表演風格較為柔媚[12]。原子少年出品人詹仁雄認為「金星」善於詮釋較為嬌媚、陰柔的舞蹈，甚至可以比女團呈現更強的表演張力[13]。然而也因為這樣的演出風格而遭到網友攻擊，團員巴比即曾在《原子少年》第四輪競賽中，與製作人共同創作歌曲〈Believe in Me〉，描述金星因中性特質而被網友攻擊，但不畏懼而繼續追求夢想的心情[14]。
