青雲路原本是望后石路的一部份。1970年代，當時的港英政府將現時的此道路、鳴琴路及龍門路路段，從望后石路分拆；而龍門路後來再度分拆，皇珠路以北的一段成為現時的鳴琴路以及此道路。
