體長2.0-2.8公分。在亞洲的熱帶及副熱帶地區很常見。
頭部、觸角均呈棕褐色。
胸部主要為棕褐色，背側中央(中胸背板）部分個體具有黑褐色斑紋。
腹部前半段濃黃色，第2腹節前方具有橙褐色斑紋
腹部後半段為黑色。各腳黑褐色。
不易主動攻擊人，螫人後螫針不會脫落，留在人體被螫處。
